The Joy of Technology

Abe Lincoln is quoted as saying “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.” This is normally my mantra, but yesterday I had a second article published by the Science Teachers Association of Texas (p.22). I was very excited, but especially nervous to have my words available to teachers all over the state. My colleague asked me to send her the link, and later in the teachers’ workroom she began asking specifically about using one of the websites mentioned in the article. Did the students have to log in to use the resource? Did she have to make questions to go with the reading and video clips? etc. That was the best validation of putting my experience in the classroom into writing- that another teacher found it helpful and could use it to supplement her teaching. Trying out new websites and apps in the classroom and working out the kinks makes my teaching heart happy- I hope others can benefit!
